Beler Soft keeps up with Web Design trends of 2017

In terms of web design, 2016 brought us a lot of dynamism and creativity. 2017 excels however by new trends. The web industry is every time in a constant development, focusing on user preferences and needs. Permanently keeping up with the latest trends can be a real challenge.
The profession of designer requires you to stay connected permanently to changes. So, with the passing of the first months of this year, I was able to outline a personal classification of elements that marked me through originality and creativity:

  1. Gradients have returned: large and contrasting

In 2017, the comeback of gradients is noticed. Very useful for their power to create contrast, their comeback to the creative techniques is no longer surprising. After a complete disappearance during 2015-2016, now the gradients have begun to be used again, but larger, more visible and more contrasting! Because it is important to have a clear element of interest in the design of any web page, emphasizing headlines with highly colored gradients has become a method increasingly used by designers.

    1. Increasing fonts in the header

The texts written in small characters that do not have enough space between rows seem cramped and hard to read. In addition, the user’s eye is not attracted and their attention is not engrossed. In most situations, when users first access a website, they allocate less than a minute to read the page content.
In 2017, more attention will be paid to the size of writing, especially in the area of titles and subtitles, because they are the ones which have the “duty” to convince the users. With the increase of letter sizes in texts, the size of images will increase. The new trend: the increase in height of images in the header, over which texts with large and bold letters will “flow”.

        1. Asymmetric laid-down

To create a beautiful and successful presentation for web pages you need a balanced and well-paginated composition. The easiest way to balance the content of a web page is to lay down the page elements symmetrically. By the end of last year, many designers avoided asymmetric compositions because they can be difficult to harmonize because of the variety and complexity of the relationship between the elements of a web page. However, asymmetry allows a visual variety that can be exploited in favor of compositional balance. Asymmetry helps the designer create a concept with a more dynamic and interesting balance.
So, in order to think out of the box, in 2017, many designers choose the “more difficult” but also “more creative” way: asymmetry.

        1. Extra minimalism

A trend in web design that has been noticed since last year and will remain in place in 2017 is extra-minimalism. Due to the speed with which users browse web sites, the tendency to simplify the visual concepts of websites is increasingly noticeable. The minimalist design is distinguished primarily by giving up the elements that distract the user’s eye from the content. A simple design is easier to scan, which means it will be easier to understand. For this reason, skeuomorphic design is no longer successful: because users are more anxious and want to have quick access to essential information.

        1. Text in overlapped layers

Texts in overlapped layers bring, in the first place, added creativity to the web pages. The subtle emphasis of a text with another text is indeed an innovative technique that seems to be growing more and more this year. I think this technique has started from the desire to mix, in an innovative way, several types of fonts. Fonts create an atmosphere in the visual concept of web pages and they can impart a state. Their combination can thus evoke more emotion.

        1. One-page menu

The one-page menu is the latest trend of those presented in this article. The one-page menu has evolved from mobile devices area. Today, more and more users browse web sites on their mobile devices and many of the specific features of these devices have also been transferred to the desktop. So, the one-page menu is becoming more and more used in web design by the desire to create a common language and, of course, to bring something new and innovative.

        1. Animations and videos in the header

Switching from websites with static images to the animated ones is a trend that has begun to become more and more in vogue. It is an ingenious and well liked method by both web designers and users. In addition, this technique is both creative and useful. Animations attract attention and turn the users’ browsing experience into a more interactive one.

We notice that trends in web design in 2017 are bringing more active involvement from the users. Interactivity is becoming more and more important in providing a pleasant browsing experience that catches the attention and makes the user spend more time on the website.

Although the techniques presented above will be history some day, as a designer, I make sure that I am always informed and aware of the latest trends. You should also stay connected to the changes in web design by constantly reading more future articles in this field. See you!
